Summertime is the perfect opportunity to gather friends and family for a backyard BBQ or a casual get-together.
Warm weather screams for something refreshing and sippable, and we have the perfect selection of wines to bring to your next get-together. These wines pair perfectly with anything grilled and fresh fruits and veggies.
For summer, white wine is always a safe choice. In general, look for wines with high acidity, a light body and a drier taste.
Our favorite summer choices are Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Try Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc for a bolder, more fruit-forward taste. Or try San Valentino Pinot Grigio for a light crisp, and refreshing flavor. Both are just delicate enough to sip throughout the summer evening.
Be sure to chill your white wine ahead of time, too. It takes about two hours to chill wine in the fridge. But you can also opt to chill the bottle in an ice salt bath to cool faster. Add an unexpected twist by using grapes. It is simple: place some grapes in your freezer and use them as ice cubes that won’t dilute your beverage! For even more fun, use a variety of red and green grapes.
If red wine is more your style, look for Rose or Pinot Noir. These are the lightest red wines, and their delicate, refreshing taste isn’t overbearing for warm days and nights.
Some favorite options are Freixenet Italian Rose, light and effervescent, with notes of berry and apples (it also comes in a Rose lemonade version as a non-alcoholic alternative!) Or try Carmen Wave Series Pinot Noir, specially crafted to be drunk at the beach. This wine is vibrant and fruity while not being too heavy.
