Do you find meal planning and cooking at home time-consuming and challenging? Many of us do. That’s why we wanted to share with you five simple ways to deliver a quick and healthy meal on busy days and nights.
Look for easy-to-prepare and ready-to-eat meal options throughout our store. We have a wide variety of shelf-stable, frozen and fresh meal options and time-saving ingredients that can make feeding a family much easier. For starters, we have ready-to-eat and oven- and pan-ready meals in our frozen foods section and deli. If you’re putting together a meal, we also have time-saving fresh and frozen washed, pre-cut, diced and/or sauced vegetables and other ingredients that require little or no food prep. Our meat department has quick meal options, too!
Plan ahead. It’s no fun to come home from work hungry and have no idea what you’re going to make for dinner. If you know ahead of time what you’re going to cook or serve, it makes it easy to resist the temptation to pick up Chinese food or burgers on the way home from work. Plan your meals for a week, and then create a shopping list. Stop by our store on the weekend to get everything you need, and then you are set for the next week.
Cook once, eat twice. You don’t have to cook every single night. It’s easy enough to double a recipe, especially when you use your crock pot, and then you can have leftovers the next night or can freeze the extra food for some time in the future. This is especially helpful on those busy nights when it seems cooking a whole meal from scratch is impossible.
Fill up your pantry. A well-stocked kitchen can make it so easy to throw together a meal in minutes. Keep the ingredients for your go-to dinners on hand. Don’t forget to stock your freezer — make sure to have on hand oven-ready foods and meals that make getting dinner on the table super easy. Having a couple of pizzas stashed in the freezer can help in a pinch.
Search for one-pot meals. One of the biggest annoyances with home cooking is the giant mess that you have to deal with when you’re done. Some recipes seem to use every bowl, knife, and saucepan you have! Look for dishes that are simple and quick, such as these one-pot dinners. Here’s a collection of 60 easy weeknight dinner recipes.
So what are you waiting for? Swing by our store today and get started making healthier, more affordable meals that the whole family can enjoy together.
